Job Description:
The successful candidate will be working on a project entitled ¡®Performance, Nation and Globalization: Modern Irish Drama and its International Contexts¡¯ under the directorship of Dr Patrick Lonergan, School of Humanities, NUI Galway http://www.nuigalway.ie/english/patrick_lonergan.html
The post-doctoral fellow will: - complete a literature review on the production of international drama in Ireland. - write two peer-reviewed journal articles (or equivalent) on the productions of international drama in Ireland, drawing principally (but not exclusively) on material at the NUI Galway theatre archives - teach one postgraduate seminar on Theatre and Globalization (two hours per week, semester 2) - assist in curriculum development of new programmes at NUIG - assist in administration of project events
The NUI Galway Theatre Archives The James Hardiman library at NUI Galway hosts a major collection of theatre archives, which features material relating to major theatres (Druid, the Abbey, the Lyric, An Taibhdhearc na Gaillimhe, Galway Arts Festival), performers (Siobhan McKenna, Arthur Shields), and authors (Thomas Kilroy). Qualifications: Essential Criteria: A PhD in modern drama and/or Irish Studies (viva completed no later than 13 August 2012) Proven ability to produce research of a publishable standard Some teaching experience Experience of organising conferences, workshops and/or other academic events or proven ability to run similar events.
Desirable Criteria Published research on modern Irish drama and/or theatre Postgraduate teaching experience Experience of archival research Interest in digital humanities
Salary: €30,117 per annum
Start date: Position is available from October 1 2012
