Our high performing Exploration and Production business remains the centre of gravity of our activities. The increasingly opportunity-rich Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) segment, together with Transmission and Distribution form our downstream activities and give us the complete range of skills across the gas chain.

 

BG Group entered China in 2006 with its office in Shekou Shenzhen and owns interests in three offshore blocks 64/11, 53/16 and 63/16 in the Qiongdongnan Basin. In December 2010, the first exploration well drilled on Block 64/11 reported gas find and is currently under appraisal for future development. BG Group is continuing 3-D exploration acquisition in 2011 and 2012 as well as up to 3 drilling campaigns scheduled in early 2013.

In 2010, BG Group signed a long-term sales contract with CNOOC, according to which CNOOC will purchase 3.6 mtpa of LNG for the next 20 years.
